As we ring in the new year, Jason Marra is being welcomed to Great Neck as the new superintendent of the Park District.
Having earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation & leisure studies and a master’s in recreation education, Marra’s background includes 13 years of parks and recreation education and experience.
For the past seven years, Marra was superintendent of Parks, Recreation and Conservation for the Village of Scarsdale in Westchester County, where revenues increased 30 percent through his implementation of new recreation programs and improvements to department operations. While overseeing the creation of new community parks, athletic field renovations and beautification projects, Marra focused on conservation and green initiatives.
Marra currently serves on the board of directors for a group that provides recreational services for children and adults with disabilities/special needs and he was one of only three young professionals in the nation to be selected by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration for its Young Professional Externship program in 2014.
The new park superintendent is married with two children and looks forward to bringing his passion for parks and recreation to the Great Neck community.
