Dear Burton Lane Residents,
I hope that you have an opportunity to visit the parklet located at the northeast portion of Burton Lane and see the significant improvements that have been made. This renovation came about because residents and local government work together to keep our community beautiful and ensure that the Town of Oyster Bay remains a clean and safe environment for all who live here.
Last May, in a perfect example of government and residents working together, I was approached by residents about the condition of this parklet. They were concerned that the park was not being well maintained and that the playground equipment was not in usable condition and could be dangerous for children to play on. Furthermore, because of the condition of the parklet, there was an issue of loitering and illicit activities occurring there, creating a potentially hazardous situation for residents. I’m happy to report that action has been taken to resolve this situation.
Upon receiving these concerns, I immediately contacted the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department. Commissioner Nocerino and his staff promptly sprang into action and within 24 hours of my phone call, the park was cleaned up. However, we did not stop there. Although, the budget did not provide for new equipment at this parklet, the town made improving this park and making it safe a priority, and the funds were made available. New equipment was installed on Dec. 14 and 15, and I was very proud to be on hand for that.
I hope that all the residents, especially our children, can enjoy this park. I’m happy to have worked with you to bring about these positive changes and look forward to continuing this positive relationship. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have about our community. Working together, we will ensure that the town remains a wonderful place to live and a safe place for children to grow up.
