Virginia Frances Zirpolo Bonafino Young

Virginia Frances Zirpolo Bonafino Young of Cary, NC, formerly of Venice, FL., passed away peacefully on Dec. 5 after a long illness.

She was born on May 11, 1935, in Port Washington to the late Frances and Virgil Zirpolo. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Brooklyn. She spent her entire working career as a registered nurse, sharing her compassionate and caring manner with many people. Virginia loved traveling to many exotic locations. Her favorite trip was when she “danced with the penguins” in Antarctica. She loved butterflies, birds and angels, and is in their presence now.

She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her family: daughters Margo Bills (husband Cliff of Apex, NC) and Debora Rand (husband Joseph of Cary); beloved grandchildren Janelle Aguiar (husband Sam of Louisville, KY), Andrew Bills of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.; great-grandson Owen Aguiar of Louisville; brother Virgil Zirpolo (wife Gail of MD); sister-in-law Noel Zirpolo of New York and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by both her loving husbands Edward Bonafino and Brian Young, along with her brother Michael.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Waltonwood Cary Memory Unit, Transitions LifeCare and her friends at Comfort Keepers for loving Virginia as one of their own.
