On Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 7:10 p.m. a woman and her daughter were crossing Northern Boulevard by the Apple Store in Manhasset and were hit by a car.
The Homicide Squad detectives reported Jin Lin, 48, of Flushing was attempting to cross Northern Boulevard from Strathmore Village to Munsey Park with her 15-year-old daughter. They were struck by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra which was travelling westbound toward Great Neck. The car was driven by a 76-year-old male. The mother, Jin Lin, was transported to North Shore Hospital part of Northwell Health System in Manhasset where she was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 7:42 p.m. Her daughter was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
The vehicle was impounded for a brake and safety inspection. According to police, no criminality is suspected at this time.
