A woman was arrested for fleeing the scene of a crash that killed a 28-year-old man and injured three others in the suspect’s hometown of Medford over the weekend, Suffolk County police said.
Kathy Horan, 61, was driving her Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound on Granny Road when she struck Peter Quoma, of Selden, and his two passengers who were standing near his parked Nissan Maxima, as well as a 58-year-old Lake Grove woman who was standing next to her parked vehicle at 8:21 p.m. Friday, police said.
Horan allegedly fled the scene. Quoma had hit the Lake Grove woman’s car moments earlier, police said. He was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
The other three victims were treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. Horan was not injured.
Horan was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality without reporting it and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious physical injury. Her bail was set at $150,000 bond or $75,000 cash. She is due back in court Thursday.
Suffolk County Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 631-852-6555.
