Village of Westbury Mayor Peter Cavallaro said that the Ellison Avenue Bridge is expected to open on April 15. If all goes as expected, traffic will resume as normal on the bridge that day, which marks exactly one year since it closed for renovations. 
“We’re happy for that, it’s something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time,” Cavallaro said.
The heavily-used bridge has been out of commission since April 15, 2015, as the MTA replaced the highway bridge that goes over the LIRR line. The $17.5 million project includes the replacement of the bridge, construction of a new roadway, sidewalks, curbs, fencing and paving.
