A 57-year-old man was was struck and killed by a car while crossing a road in his hometown of Bay Shore on Wednesday night.
Suffolk County police said John Green was crossing Fifth Avenue when he was hit by a southbound Hyundai Elantra near Brook Avenue at 8 p.m.
The victim was taken to Southside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The unnamed driver and her passenger were not injured. Third Squad detectives impounded her vehicle for a safety check and are continuing the investigation.
