West Is Best In State

Westbury High School’s Denisha West was recently named the New York State Girls Triple Jump Champion at the spring track championship meet held in Albany. West was recognized by the Westbury School District board of education for her accomplishment, which named her the best triple jumper amongst all the high schools—including Catholic, city and private schools—in the state.

“Denisha has been an excellent track and field student athlete. She showed tremendous ability athletically,” said track and field head coach Darin Harrison. “You’ve had an amazing career in high school and I know you’re going to do well.”

West has been on the track and field team since freshman year. In the fall, she will be going onto Marshall University in West Virginia on a track scholarship.

Also competing at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association meet was Westbury High School freshman Diesi (Jesse) Armand, who finished sixth in the triple jump.
