The Mineola Chamber of Commerce awarded scholarships to two local students at their June 21 meeting. Mari Seno from Mineola High School and Owen Harte from Chaminade each received $2,000 scholarships. The students were chosen out of a pool of 18 applicants. Seno will be going onto St. John’s University to pursue a physician assistant degree. Joy Wyler, Chamber board secretary, said Seno “stood out as a young man with courage, discipline and a lot of hard work and dedication.” Harte will be going on to Notre Dame for pre-med and was recognized for being involved with a number of service activities, as well as a recipient of Chaminade’s service award.
