Did you know that July was National Ice Cream month? There are plenty of places in Port Washington to satisfy an urge for the sweet treat or frozen favorite. This is a glorious reality. Check out these outrageous places which will satisfy any craving, any time.
The classic Douglas and James Sweet Treats On the Wharf, or more commonly known as The Wharf, is at 405 Main St., right on the water with a beautiful view. Famous for their homemade ice cream, walking into this shop will easily take any ice cream lover straight to heaven. With an array of amazing flavors, like Chunky Doughboy Delight and Double Dutch Chocolate Brownie, longtime employee and the store owner’s daughter, Jenny, said it is hard to pick the best or favorite flavor when they are all so popular. The Wharf is a seasonal establishment and is only open in the summer, weekdays, noon to 9 p.m. and weekends, noon to 11 p.m.
RalphsWalking up Main Street, another seasonal delight is Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices. The shop is at 292 Main St. and is open everyday from noon to 11 p.m. At Ralph’s, classic water ice, cream ice or even ice cream are unique. The most popular ice is rainbow and their most popular ice cream is Cookie Craze, a blue cookie creation that is a “must try.”

16Handles16 Handles is a self-serve frozen yogurt place that allows customers to customize exactly what flavors and combinations the discerning palate wants. Walk in, grab a cup, fill it up to your heart’s desire with as many flavors as you want and top it with as many toppings you can think of. 16 Handles often changes their flavors on monthly basis; however, there are staples like cookies and cream and euro tart, as well as limited flavors, like cinnamon rice pudding and passion fruit orange guava. 16 Handles is at 1005 Port Washington Blvd. It is open weekdays from noon to 10 p.m. and weekends from noon to 11 p.m.

BaskinRobbinsBaskin Robbins is just a few stores down. What makes Baskin Robbins special is their excellent 31 Below, which mixes soft serve ice cream with a variety of toppings. The store is at 923 Port Washington Blvd. and is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m..
The last two shops are in Manorhaven. Paradice is a cool place to go and order delicious ices though a window. The store is at 77 Manorhaven Blvd. The most popular flavor of ices at Paradice is rainbow. They have outdoor seating to enjoy ices al fresco on a nice day. It is a popular stop.

CarvelCarvel is located in Soundview Marketplace. Always the perfect place for getting ice cream after a movie, swimming or boating. Carvel’s specialty is their delicious soft serve ice cream and flying saucer ice cream sandwiches.
Carvel serves ice cream, both soft and hard, milk shakes, sundaes and cakes. A longtime favorite, Carvel is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
