No Summer Slump For Local Kids

RecProgram__A

Local children are staying active this summer at the Village of Westbury’s summer recreation program. The seven-week program allows children the opportunity to enjoy trips, crafts, stories, snacks and plenty of time on the playground.

Across the parking lot at the M. Phipps Sports Center, children ages six to 14 are enjoying the Bunky Reid All-Stars summer league. The annual program, named after the beloved Westbury High School basketball coach and headed up by Recreation Supervisor Mike Jackson, teaches attendees basketball fundamentals, sportsmanship and character. Westbury High School basketball players help run drills and train the young athletes, who also receive T-shirts and team bags.
