South High students (from left) Josephine Zheng, Jin Mo Koo and Ernest Fok took Third Place in the Group Website category of the New York State National History Day Competition. The three are in Francis Tria’s Advanced Placement US History class. This year’s competition theme was Exploration, Encounter and Exchange. The students created a website called William F. Buckley, Jr. and the National Review, which can be viewed at http://87297897.nhd.weebly.com. This is the second consecutive year that South High students have participated in the History Day Competition. As a result of this interest, a National History Day Competition Club was formed at the school, which helps advise competition participants. In addition to Tria, Librarian Judith McClellan is a club advisor.
