Dozens of art lovers and museum supporters turned out on Friday, July 29, for the opening reception of Feast for the Eyes, a delicious exploration of how food inspires art. The newest exhibit, which is guest-curated by Franklin Hill Perrell, offers viewers eclectic portrayals of food, restaurants, cafés, shops, parties and table decorations.
On display also in the contemporary gallery is the solo exhibit, Ben Schonzeit: Abstract Figuration, that reveals an entirely different aspect of the career of this artist, who is a central figure in the American Photorealist movement. Schonzeit’s work has previously been seen at the museum in the exhibitions, Still Life: 1970s Photorealism and Garden Party.
The exhibits run through Nov. 6.
Nassau County Museum of Art is located at 1 Museum Dr. in Roslyn Harbor. Visit www.nassaumuseum.org or call 516-609-9696 for details.
