A Westbury man was arrested Sunday morning after shooting a woman in the chest.
According to Nassau County Police Detectives, Andre Danzy, 40, of Hicks Street in Westbury, while involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 20, at his residence on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 a.m., took a handgun and shot her in the chest. Details involving the argument are not available at this time. The weapon was recovered.
The victim was transported by private auto to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
Third Squad detectives located Danzy a short time later on Hempstead Turnpike, where he was placed under arrest. He is being charged with second-degree murder (attempt), first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned Monday, Aug. 15 at First District Court, Hempstead.
