Congratulations to 13-year-old Johnny Schmuck, who was the first finisher in the 11 to 14 age group award in the annual Lynn, Gartner, Dunne & Covello Sands Point Sprint on Saturday morning, Aug. 10.
Schmuck completed the 5-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 15 seconds to earn his award.
The Sands Point course is not an easy course, although it is clearly a scenic one, showing off the beauties of one of Long Island’s hidden treasures. The run closes with a tough half mile of trail followed by a really nasty hill just before the three mile mark and the sprint to the finish.
