To kick off National Disability Voter Registration Week, the REV UP (Register, Educate, Vote, Use Your Power) campaign was held at the Viscardi Center in Albertson. The campaign aims to eliminate barriers to voting, promote turnout of voters with disabilities and engage candidates and the media on disability issues.

Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum and North Hempstead Town Councilman Peter Zuckerman spoke at the event. After the presentation, Birnbaum met with John Kemp, president and CEO of the Viscardi Center, and Denise Vargas, who is heading up the campaign
for voter registration at the center.

Zuckerman spoke about the importance of registering to vote and how each person’s vote can make a difference.
