On Aug. 20, the Massapequa Lions partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family in need in Nassau County. From the early morning until the late afternoon, the Lions were geared up and ready to build, installing insulation on the roof for the family in need.

The home is classified as a “Net-Zero” home, powered by renewable energy where the energy consumed is equivalent to the energy created.

“I strive to make a difference in my community as much as possible,” said Michael LiPetri, a Massapequa Lion who organized the event. “The Massapequa Lions, whose motto is ‘We Serve,’ do just that. Nothing is better than serving your community. We showed that we get out there and help our neighbors.”
