The 2016 Massapequa Coast 10u Williamsport travel team consists of 13 talented players including Michael Vilardi, Frankie Kelly, Tyler Young, Robbie Nugent, James Bacheller, Matt Geisler, Paul Dulanto, Logan Colavita, MJ Muscara, George Adams, Nick Le Vien, Justin DeStefano and Anthony Urzia. These exceptional young men are led by manager John Vilardi and coaches Jerry Kelly, Mark Young, Bob Nugent, and Dan Bacheller.
They began their summer tournament by defeating North Bellmore-North Merrick 7-1 to win the District 31 championship. They continued their championship run by beating East Williston 3-1 to win sectionals.
As the Section 4 West Champions, they traveled to Albany for a chance to become New York State Champions. While there, by virtue of a better winning percentage than West Islip, the team was named Long Island Champions. Unfortunately, after making it all the way to the New York State Championship finals, the Massapequa Coast 10u Williamsport team lost 6-5 in extra innings.
Despite this loss, the boys are considered true winners, as they played the season with the utmost in respect, teamwork, sportsmanship and character.
