Massapequa High School’s Ames Campus welcomed its newest group of students, who attended ninth-grade orientation on Aug. 30 and 31.

Principal Jordan McCaw, executive assistant to the principal, Tania Willman and several staff members greeted the students, who will spend one year at Ames before moving on to the high school’s main campus. Together, they reviewed important information with students including the daily schedule, cell phone policy, dress code, attendance regulations and transportation. The incoming freshman also learned about the variety of extracurricular activities offered at Ames and were encouraged to get involved as there are opportunities for every student.
The program concluded with a walk-through of the building. Students, with copies of their schedule and building maps in hand, were able to tour the building and learn where all their classes are located.
“We welcomed the new ninth-graders to Ames and wished them success this year,” said McCaw. “Although their time with us will be short, we want students to have a great experience and build a strong academic foundation in a year that is a significant part of their high school education.”
