Northport VA Honored At US Open

As part of our Military Appreciation Day at the US Open, the Northport VA was selected to do the coin toss prior to the Serena Williams (US) vs. Yaroslava Shvedova (RU) match.

The US Open is a worldwide event with players, fans and media all coming together to celebrate this annual spectacular.

Local Long Island friends and families joined together in celebration of the 5^th Annual US Open Military Appreciation Day, hosted by the USTA Foundation, to celebrate one very extraordinary similarity other than their place of residence.

As part of our Military Appreciation Day at the US Open, the Northport VA was selected to do the coin toss prior to the Juan Martín del Potro (AR) vs. Yaroslava Shvedova (RU) match.

Local family from Levittown who are members of Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Wounded Warrior from West Islip and Northport VA Medical Center Army Veteran Howard Wunderlich all joined with United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert A. McDonald to participate in Ceremonial Coin Tosses prior to slotted afternoon and evening sessions in Arthur Ashe Stadium
