The 29th annual Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, with runners and walkers from all over Long Island invited to participate. The event will be held at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Bethpage.
Managing the run will be the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC), with additional help from volunteers. In keeping with the holiday spirit, participants can expect to see elves, reindeer and Santa Claus. Prizes will be given out for best holiday costume and for the first person to cross the finish line, with additional prize drawings available for runners. Kids can participate in a “fun run” prior to the event. All preregistered runners age 16 and younger will receive a 50 percent discount.
A large portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Opening Word, an education program hosted by the Dominican Sisters to provide poor, uneducated immigrant women with the tools to become productive members of American society. Participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit local children in need.
