This season, the girls’ varsity soccer team at Division Avenue High School worked very hard, despite the low number of girls trying out for the soccer program. A total of 24 girls came out for both the varsity and junior varsity teams. Each team pushed through a tough season giving their full effort, which resulted in many positive and memorable outcomes.
This year, splitting the 24 girls into two teams rather than one large team, helped save the future JV soccer program and really tested the resolve and passion of the players.
This year, coach Ryan Snyder joined the varsity program as an assistant coach to help guide the girls and lend his valuable soccer knowledge to the program.
The varsity team had a total of 14 goals this season. Both Jessica Pedroza and Daniela Perdomo led the team in goals this year with 7 and 3, respectively. Both goalies, Samantha Morales and Kaitlyn Cronin, did an outstanding job this season. Morales finished the season with 68 saves and Cronin with 94 saves. Senior Daniela Perdomo, was named this year’s scholar athlete. Two juniors, Amy Rzemieniewski and Pedroza, were named to the All Class Team. In addition, sophomore, Maddie Gillis, was awarded this year’s All Conference winner.
The Lady Dragons offense was led by Sarah Kinkel, Amrita Parmar and Cronin. The midfielders all had a great season dominating the middle including players Hailey Thomas and Maddie Cammarata. The stingy defense was a big improvement to this year’s team including Christie Bleimeyer, Victoria Voboril, and Marcela Vasquez.
Senior captains, Caitlin Robinson and Daniela Perdomo, will be missed on the field next year. Division is very proud of all the girls’ efforts this season, sure that the girls returning next year will lead Division to the playoffs. Good luck to Robinson and Perdomo moving forward.
