Funky pop/dance-rock quartet DNCE, known for their catchy 2015 breakout hit single “Cake By the Ocean,” will get the crowd dancing and misspelling things at The Paramount in Huntington on Wednesday night.
Fronted by Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers fame, the Los Angeles-based band drew a cult following after releasing their self-titled debut album, which dropped in November following their initial 4-track EP, SWAY. Their latest single, “Toothbrush,” has since caught fire.
“Musically, we sound like disco funk hits played by a good garage band,” bassist Cole Whittle told Official Charts.
Besides Jonas and Whittle, rounding out the line-up is drummer Jack Lawless and guitarist JinJoo Lee. The band’s name, derived from the title track on their album, is reportedly a reference to being too drunk to spell the word dance.
The upbeat band won Best New Artist and the MTV Music Video Awards, opened up for Selena Gomez’s Revival Tour and made a cameo in Grease: Live.
The show is on the tail end of a month-long national tour until they take a break before performing next month in Seoul. Opening the Huntington show will be up-and-coming New York City-based funk rockers The Skins.
DNCE will play The Paramount, located at 370 New York Avenue in Huntington. For more information, visit paramountny.com Tickets range in price from $25-$40. The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.
