A suspect was arrested for shooting a 24-year-old Freeport man who died of his injuries last year, four ½ years after he was left paralyzed by the gunman, Nassau County police said.
Hamilton Croft was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Daniel “Fussy” Flowers, who died on Jan. 2, 2016—a week before his 25th birthday and three days after the victim was hospitalized due to complications from his injuries.
Homicide Squad detectives said the 38-year-old Hewlett man shot Flowers in the neck while the victim was with walking with a group of friends southbound on Main Street near Seductions Bar shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011.
Flowers was remembered as a gifted multi-sport athlete who was involved in the Jackson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was involved in The Junior Usher Board, The Drama Club and The Lucille Whitehurst Junior Choir, his family said.
Croft was arrested Wednesday and will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
