A 73-year-old Port Jefferson woman was killed when the vehicle her husband was driving was involved in a crash in Rocky Point on Saturday afternoon.
Suffolk County police said Lucio Costanzo, also 73, was driving a Subaru westbound on Route 25A when he crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck an eastbound Jeep at the corner of Fairway Drive at 12:20 p.m.
Lucio was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition. His wife, Stephanie Costanzo, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was pronounced dead. The other driver and his 16-year-old son were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Seventh Squad detectives impounded the vehicles, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
