Knitting Enthusiasts At Farmingdale

Knitters 041917 picCoordinated by Farmingdale High School Art teacher Cara Palermo, the Knitting Club recently hosted special guest knitters Francine DeKranes and Claudine Vacirca, who brought personally knitted sweaters, scarves, handbags and hats. They also shared knitting books, handy knitting supplies, and a wonderful slideshow outlining their trip to Scotland, which is well known for its wool and knitting industry. The guest presentation was very timely because this hobby is once again becoming popular as people of all ages are experiencing the enjoyment of knitting. Researchers say that knitting helps keep the mind active and actually helps reduce stress, producing a beneficial calming effect on one’s body and mind. The guest knitters were honored to be invited and they appreciated the opportunity to share their love of knitting with students who were so welcoming and enthusiastic.
