Congratulations to Syosset High School junior Sarah Wang for winning a silver medal in the poetry category of the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Competition, sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Wang has been recognized for her original poem titled “Father.”
National medalists in the competition represent less than 1 percent of submissions for the Scholastic awards. Since 1923, the competition has honored celebrated authors and artists including Truman Capote, Lena Dunham, Robert Redford and Andy Warhol.
