A 59-year-old homeless man found dead floating in the Great South Bay off Bay Shore on Tuesday night, Suffolk County police said.
A boater discovered the body just south of Bay Shore Manor Park at 7:05 p.m. and called police, authorities said.
The man was identified as Jose Espino-Perez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the death to be non-criminal. His body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
The incident marks the second time in 10 days that a man was found dead in the Great South Bay. Jose Perez Ramirez, 43, of Patchogue, was found floating in the bay off Sayville on Sunday, April 30. His death was also determined to be non-criminal.
