A Hempstead man was arrested for sexually assaulting and strangling a woman at the Coliseum Motor Inn in East Meadow last year, New York State police said.
Kassi Ajavon was charged with first-degree rape, criminal obstruction of breathing and patronizing a person for prostitution.
Police said the 21-year-old suspect was arrested following a nine-month investigation into the August 2016 attack.
A Nassau County judge set his bail at $250,000 before Ajavon was transported back to Erie County Jail, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges, police said.
