After more than six years of negotiations, the Great Neck Library Board of Trustees ratified a new contract for the Library Staff Association at the Board of Trustees meeting on July 25. The Library Staff Association voted to accept the terms of the most recent Memorandum of Agreement. The prior staff contract expired in December 2011.
It took long and hard deliberations, numerous proposals, counteroffers and concessions over all of these years. There were many issues to consider including health insurance, yearly wages, Sunday pay, seniority and various other contractual items. Both the library and the union are pleased that an agreement to the terms of the long overdue contract were met.
