After a lot of hard work, preparation and anticipation, Levittown celebrated its 70th anniversary in grand fashion with a dinner and dance party on Friday, Oct. 20. Some of the community’s most active members attended, including Father Ralph Sommer of St. Bernard’s Church; Louise Cassano of the Levittown Community Council; Bob Koenig of the Levittown Historical Society; and Nassau County Chief Deputy Clerk John Ferretti, a Levittown resident. Also in attendance was Town of Hempstead Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr. The evening featured guest speakers and was an opportunity to reflect on what the community has meant to its residents over the past several years.
The celebration continues for the remainder of the year; the community councils next planning session will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at VFW Post 9592, 55 Hickory Lane, next to the fire house at 7 p.m.
