Virginia Korz

Obit KorzVirginia Dora (Wagner) Korz, 80, of Middletown, CT, wife of the late Frederick Warren Korz, passed away on Dec. 16 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late August Henry and Rose Cecelia (Eller) Wagner.

Raised in New Hyde Park, Virginia graduated from Sewanhaka High School and lived in Wantagh from 1964 to 2005. She attended SUNY New Paltz for two years. Virginia spent her career at Old Bethpage Village Restoration first as an interpreter and later as a historical costumer for the museum system. Virginia was a skilled craftsperson in multiple fabric arts particularly tatting and lace making.

Virginia was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell, CT. Virginia is survived by two sons, Frederick Mitchell Korz of Yorktown Heights and Charles H. Korz of Colebrook, CT; a sister, Barbara Nielsen of Copiague, a brother, Richard H. Wagner and his wife, Jeanne of Mapleville, RI, a brother-in-law, Alan C. Korz and his wife, Margaret of Verona, WI; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral services were held on Dec. 21 at Doolittle Funeral Home in Middletown, CT. Interment will be in the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Garden in the spring. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Virginia’s memory to the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Garden Fund, 50 Court St., Cromwell, CT 06416.
