Business Students Come Up Big

Garden City’s Business Department students and their teachers at the Emerging Leaders Business Competition at St. Joseph’s College.

Congratulations to Garden City High School’s Business Department students who recently competed in the 2017 Emerging Leaders Business Competition at St. Joseph’s College. Nineteen Long Island schools and approximately 375 students participated.

“The competition included student presentations in several areas of business,” teacher Dr. Erin McKinstry explained. “Students were judged on the content of their presentations and knowledge of the subject area as well as their public speaking skills.”

Finishing in the top three spots were:

First Place: Kieran Brown in Job Interview: Eleventh and Twelfth grade
Jalen Hinck in Job Interview: Life Skills

Second Place: Alana Brown and Katerina Van Noy in Entertainment Marketing
Margaret Chiang and Alexandra Michael in Graphic Design
Chase Gladd and T.J. Schmitt in Public Relations
Maria Neuhedel in Job Interview: Life Skills

Third Place: Caroline Feryo in the Job Interview: Ninth and Tenth Grade
Lauren Hagan and Colleen Maclay in Retail Marketing
