A fatal house fire occurred in the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 27 on Roxton Road in Plainview, claiming the life of the 84-year-old male homeowner.
Second Precinct officers and a fire chief arrived at the residence and attempted to enter, but were overcome with smoke and forced to exit. Seventy-five firefighters from Plainview, Hicksville, Bethpage, Jericho and Syosset fire departments extinguished the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
