The Manhasset High School Class of 1968 will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a weekend chock full of events beginning on Friday, Sept. 28, and ending on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The reunion weekend will kick off on Friday night, Sept. 28, with a casual gathering at Publicans in Manhasset beginning at 7:30 pm.

During the day on Saturday, Sept. 29, the activities will include a tour of Manhasset High School, a golf tournament and other fun gatherings that are still being discussed and arranged.

The main reunion event will be held at Port Washington Yacht Club on Saturday night, Sept. 29, from 6 until 11 p.m. The evening will include dinner, wine, beer and soda. The cost will be $80 per person. There will also be a cash bar for mixed drinks.

“We have had some success in contacting many of our class,” said co-chair Cathy Buhr Smith. “But if you graduated or know someone who graduated in 1968 from Manhasset High School, please contact one of the reunion committee members, so that we can gather all email addresses.”

“For our 25th reunion in 1993, we got a good turnout for all of the activities,” said reunion committee member Laurie Stoehr Barnoski. “It looks like this year’s reunion will be well attended with many classmates traveling across country just to attend.”

The reunion committee, Cathy Buhr Smith (cbsmith321@yahoo.com), Marvin Leto (mpleto@comcast.net), Laurie Stoehr Barnoski (barnsoly@comcast.net) and Patti Straus Fountaine (patti9568@yahoo.com), would welcome any suggestions or help in planning the reunion weekend and contact information for 1968 classmates.
