On Sunday, Feb. 25, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., a squad of World War I living historians will present artifacts, displays, uniforms and military tactics alongside an operational World War I tank at the Museum of American Armor, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, to mark the centennial of America’s entry into The Great War.
Between 1917 and 1918, Long Island’s Camp Upton was the embarkation point for some 40,000 “Dough Boys” destined for the front were, after training, were placed on Long Island Rail Road cars and traveled west destined for piers in either Brooklyn or Hoboken, New Jersey.
Admission donations are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and veterans and children between the ages of 5 and 12.
