There is never a shortage of sweet animals available for adoption on Long Island, but if you can’t adopt but want to help, perhaps you can donate to help make a difference.

In honor of Animal Cruelty Awareness Month, The Nassau County SPCA has kicked-off their $5 challenge to help with their efforts of protecting animals from abuse and neglect, and to provide basic welfare for animals in need. Please donate as you can. For more information, check out their website.

Ralph
Ralph

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh:

Ralph originally came to the shelter as a stray after being found at a local gas station. he is a really sweet and handsome fella who gets along with both humans and other dogs. Ralph can be nervous with new people, so a savvy owner who knows how to introduce Ralph to new people would be what he needs. He is really affectionate and just so fun to be with, but go ahead, check him out for yourself!

Ivy

Available for adoption at the Little Shelter in Huntington:

Ivy is a regal Beagle of around 7 years old that arrived at the Little Shelter from a local town shelter. Ivy is a playful, curious and trusting dog. She’s not the most active girl in the world but she loves to take leisurely walks so she can stop and sniff the world. If you’re looking for a goofy, laid-back pooch, Ivy is your gal!

Demi

Demi came to the Little Shelter after her previous person passed away. She’s a little shy, but once she warms up to you, you’ve found yourself a forever friend. Demi may have no teeth, but she’s got a heart of gold and a sweet disposition to match. Come on down and meet this lovely lady, but look out, she may just steal your heart!

Jack

Jack is a super sweet orange tabby kitten available for adoption at Town of Huntington Cat Shelter. He came in with two other kittens and is currently waiting for find his furever home. Jack loves to cuddle, get belly rubs and will hold onto your hand as you give him chin scratches. He enjoys looking out the window and bird watching but also likes chasing his toys.

Winnie

Available for adoption at The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter:

Winnie Cooper (reference #170724) is a gorgeous dog that was brought to the shelter as a stray just two days before Christmas 2017. Besides being cold and a bit fearful, it was also discovered that Winnie was pregnant and due very soon. She became a mom on January 6 and took the best care of her little pups, who have since been adopted.

It is now time for Winnie to find her peace and happiness as she continues the next chapter of her young life. Winnie is less than 2 years old and is now spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. She is a rock star here at the shelter for the way she handled being a very pregnant mom and alone in the streets.

Winnie Cooper weighs 42 pounds and is ready to be adopted. If you are a special home looking for a very special gal, Winnie is for you!

nana
Nana

Nana (reference #180074) came to the shelter in late February. Her owner was moving and could not take her. She is a 7-year-old gray, domestic short hair who is quite vocal and very loving. Nana will make a great companion for someone that loves attention from their cat. Nana is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccines, microchipped and oh so ready to be in a home again where she can spoil her new owner with purrs and kisses.
