Spring is here and it is time to get out your running gear to get set for the annual Sands Point Preserve Helen’s Run/Walk 2018 on Sunday, April 22. Registration is now open for the annual 5K/3.1 mile event which beckons racers from all over Long Island and New York. The event benefits Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths & Adults (HKNC) and its mission to support those living with combined vision and hearing loss.
Deaf-blind student Elizabeth Aguilera is featured in a new video stating, “This event is for everyone. Deaf-blind, hearing, sighted—come down and join the fun. Jump on board and walk or run. Whatever floats your boat. It’s a great opportunity to meet the community. All the money raised goes straight to supporting the training and advocacy needs of deaf-blind people at HKNC.”
You can support Aguilera’s team, form your own, or participate as an individual. Either way, you’re sure to have a great time for a great cause.
