Robert Roberto, Jr.

The Honorable Robert Roberto, Jr., born on June 28, 1930, in Manhasset, passed away peacefully on April 22 of natural causes in his home in Fort Myers, FL, surrounded by family. He lived a remarkable 87 years and continues to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Judge Robert Roberto is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma and their three children: Barbara-Anne, husband Tim; Christopher, wife Patty; and Diana, husband Keith; as well as six adult grandchildren.

Judge Roberto, retired from Supreme Court New York, was known for his judicial temperament, efficiency, fairness, and ability to settle cases. He was well respected by the New York Bar and was elected three times to the bench. He attended Manhasset High School, Adelphi University and Brooklyn Law School. Before becoming a judge, he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York, the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Nassau County, and was the Chief Counsel to the newly formed Joint Judicial Conference Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District, defining, and setting the bar for that committee for his successors even up to today.

Robert lived in Manhasset for most of his life, and traveled the world with his wife, and in most recent years, with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, fine dining, playing bridge, and sipping Myers and tonics after a round of golf. He was known for his wisdom, kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and zest for life. He will be mourned by the many people who loved him.
