On Saturday, June 9, the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes will be taking place at Belmont Racetrack located on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m. and races will be taking place from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays on Hempstead Turnpike and surrounding secondary roads throughout the day.
Plainfield Avenue will be closed from Hempstead Turnpike to Vanderwater Avenue from 8 a.m. to approximately 9 p.m.
If you are planning to attend this event, be advised that there will be no backpacks, no coolers, no luggage and no duffel bags allowed. Any food items must be in see-through plastic containers or see through bags.
To avoid traffic and parking, it is suggested that attendees take mass transit.
