Finding Yoga Bliss

P1120137Nirvana is near, now that Marc Altheim has opened up a new yoga studio, Know Yoga Know Bliss, on Plandome Road. The storefront, located next to MacClennan Pharmacy, has been totally renovated with wood flooring, clean lines and soothing walls to give guests a sense of calm and serenity that envelopes them and gets them ready for class.
Altheim, a native Long Islander who lives in nearby Lake Success, was certified at Om Sweet Om in Port Washington.

“I have been practicing for almost 10 years, five days a week,” said Altheim. “I have been exposed to many teachers so I have learned many ways to teach yoga.”

Know Yoga Know Bliss is different from other studios because it focuses solely on yoga and meditation.

“Yoga has brought me great personal satisfaction on many levels, physically, emotionally and spiritually,” said Altheim. “As a very athletic person—basketball, cycling, tennis and skiing—my body started to wear down, so I turned to yoga. I was very, very inflexible but needed to address my pliability and start to do something I was uncomfortable with. Today, I am able to compete much better in all the sports I love and my recovery time is much faster.”

Altheim believes there is a need for this studio in Manhasset.

“I believe there is a hunger for people in the community to be more centered, more flexible, stronger and slow life down. Yoga and meditation are two ways to effectively meet that goal. Know Yoga Know Bliss will hopefully become a treasured resource in the community.”

Carolyn Carpentiere and Priti Jojoo are instructors with Altheim. Carpentiere is certified in yoga, meditation and Pilates and has been involved in the fitness industry since 1990. She received her 200 hour Vinyasa Flow Yoga certification in 2009 and continues to study many other yoga and fitness styles including Viniyoga, Reiki and Iyengar. Jojoo trained at ISHTA NY in Pranayama, meditation and ayurveda.

The studio is targeting people of all ages including seniors, men, women and anyone over the age of 15 years old. The studio can accommodate 18 students per class.

“The studio is well appointed and cleanliness is the number one priority,’ said Altheim. “All classes are $20 and mats are provided for free.”

Know Yoga Know Bliss is located at 580 Plandome Rd. and is open seven days a week.
