Claire C. Blossom

Claire C. Blossom (nee Conville), of Port Washington, formerly of Punta Gorda, FL, and Whiting, VT, died on Aug. 30 at the age of 92. Born in Minersville, PA on Dec. 24, 1925, she was the daughter of Frank Conville and Susanna Kiss Conville.

Raised in the Bronx, she graduated from Mount St. Ursula Academy and the Grace Institute. In 1946, she married James A. McDonald, a law student. They had two daughters, Alice M. Peckelis of Port Washington and Diane Levine of Merrick.

In 1993, she retired as an executive secretary at United Sates Trust in New York City and married Kenneth Gatchell Blossom, Jr. of Connecticut. They retired to Whiting, VT, where they owned and operated a bed and breakfast, Carousel Farm, until 2004. They subsequently moved to Punta Gorda, FL. Mr. Blossom died in 2016.

Her brother J. Francis “Frank” Conville predeceased her in 1992.

In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her sons-in-law, Joseph Peckelis and Jeffrey Levine, her grandchildren Christine (Michael) Bulik, Dr. Janis (Angelo) Mazza-Cervoni and Scott Peckelis. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren Blake Mazza, Jeremy Rooney, Michael Bulik and Lauren Bulik.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Austin F. Knowles, Inc Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church on Thursday, Sept. 6. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Pottsville, PA.
