Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso presented ceramic artist Lauren Skelly Bailey with a New York State Citation for her project, Coral Awareness. Thanks to the New York State Council on the Arts and the Huntington Arts Council, Bailey was featured at the Great Neck Library this summer as part of her Creative Communities Grant project.
Bailey’s art focuses on the metamorphosis of healthy corals to bleached corals due to the effects of climate change. At the ceremony, Great Neck Library Director Denise Corcoran presented the assemblyman with a pin from the library for his support.
“Having come from Italy which is known for its art, I appreciate good artwork and am always supportive of the arts,” said D’Urso. “I commend Ms. Bailey for her work and wish her luck with her future exhibits.”
