When it comes to car manufacturers, Tesla is in a league of its own. The cars boast the latest in technology, paired with advanced safety features and sleek design. Long Islanders can see what sets a Tesla apart for themselves at the Americana Manhasset, where the Tesla dealership invites potential buyers to take a car out for a spin.
Here’s a look at some of the cars available for a test drive.
Model S
With 360 degree cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and front impact, side impact and rollover protection, the Tesla Model S has set a record for the highest safety rating of any car ever tested and the lowest probability of injury in an accident. The vehicle also boasts the longest electric range of any car on the road, lasting up to 335 miles on a single charge. And when you’ve reached the limit, you can recharge 170 miles in just 30 minutes at any Supercharger location nationwide. The Model S is equipped with dual motor all-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 2.5 seconds. The sleek automobile comes in Tesla’s five signature colors and is available for test drives at the Manhasset store seven days a week.
Model X
This is what luxury group travel looks like. With room for seven and a five-star safety rating, the Model X is the safety SUV on the road.
The car is built to protect, with the body, chassis, restraints and battery technology provide for the lowest probability of occupant injury. The Model X also comes standard with active safety features such as side collision warning and emergency braking with an optional autopilot add-on. Car-owners can rest at ease, knowing that the Model X has the lowest rollover risk of any SUV out there, as well as incredible side impact protection. The Model X also boasts industry-leading range: the car can run 295 miles and recharges 170 miles in a mere 30 minutes. Not only can passengers rest at ease that they’re safe, but they’ll also be traveling in style: Falcon Wing doors make a statement as does the panoramic windshield and interior 17-inch display.
Model 3
Limited production of the Model 3 began last year, with the official launch in July of this year. Tesla’s version of an electric sedan brings drivers safety, impressive design and 310 mile range, starting at $49,000. With the Model 3, Tesla once again puts safety at the forefront. The metal structure combines aluminum and steel for maximum strength in every area. In a roof-crush test, the car resisted four times its own mass, even with an all glass roof. The car also boasts a quick acceleration, going from 0 to 60 in as little as 3.5 seconds and reaching up to 155 miles per hour. The fully electric car takes approximately 30 minutes to charge and includes advanced features, including allowing drivers to use their smartphone as a key and housing driver controls in a sleek 15-inch touchscreen.
