Based on Victor Hugo’s classic 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the 1996 Disney film, the musical takes place in 15th-century Paris and tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchback bell ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral who is held captive by his caretaker, the devious archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo.
“This is not your typical Disney production,” said Ryan Speakman, who plays Frollo. “It has all the songs that you love and you know. What’s good about this is we go a little bit more into the backstory.”
