Performance Poets Readings
Join George Pafitis when he hosts readings in collaboration with Performance Poets Association, a nonprofit that provides a forum for local artists and brings original poetry and related arts to the public, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Station Branch. A featured poet will read for 20 minutes at each monthly session, followed by an open mic.

AARP Smart DriverTEK
AARP volunteer Alan Lichtenthal will present a free AARP Smart DriverTEK workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Main Library community room . As technology changes the driving experience, AARP Driver Safety and The Hartford offer a new educational program that helps drivers understand current and evolving vehicle safety technologies, how to use them and how these technologies might enhance their driving safety and extend their safe driving years.

GNL Tech Squad at Main
Learn how to use your iPad or tablet, social media, Microsoft Office, smartphone apps and more in a small group setting on Tuesdays in January from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Main Library small multipurpose room. Raging Against Aging
Meet author Jacqueline Becker, a retired teacher and private tutor for reading and writing who has had more than 20 articles appear in various publications, when she speaks about her book Raging Against Aging at 2 p.m. in the Main Library community room. With a humorous outlook, she takes on aging and its effects on every aspect of her life. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The film, about two vaudeville partners who reunite for a television special, will be shown at 2 p.m. at the Main Library.

Health and Healing
Join librarian Mimi Rabizadeh as she discusses the latest research in medicine on the health of the gut and how it influences the brain, immune system and overall health at 12 p.m. in the Main Library large multipurpose room. Registration strongly suggested at 516-466-8055, ext. 218/219, or online.

Prospective Candidates Search
The Great Neck Library is seeking candidates for two expiring seats on the Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee in the Oct. 28, 2019, election. Scott Sontag’s Board of Trustees seat and Patrick McDonnell’s Nominating Committee seat will expire in January 2020. Nominees must be members of the Great Neck Library Association by Oct. 1, 2019; 18 or older; residents of the Great Neck School District; and either valid library card holders or registered voters with the Nassau County Board of Elections.
