SportsBlazersThe Great Neck North Boys Swimming team competed against Bellmore-Merrick on Thursday, Jan. 3. This season, the Blazers have had a perfect record during conference games and were playing the top contender in its conference.

Amazing swims by Coby Kavakeb in the 100-meter and 50-meter fly, Harrison in the 500-meter race and Eytan in the 100-meter breaststroke led the North team to a slight advantage in the first half of the meet. Unfortunately, Bellmore-Merrick put up a terrific fight and came away with the victory and the solo lead in the conference.

The Blazers’ next swim meet was held on Monday, Jan. 7, against Massapequa.

The Great Neck North Boys JVA Basketball team played Bellmore on Saturday, Jan. 5.

The Blazers were coming off a tough defeat against Jericho last week. They were looking to improve with a win this week.

Luke Hakimian, Nathaniel Hakim and John Javaheri all put up 10-plus points in Saturday’s game to lead the Blazers’ offense. On the defensive side, Matthew Heimowitz had multiple steals and multiple rebounds. Coby Kadouri also had multiple points and rebounds to lead the Blazers in an overtime victory.
