If you’re exhausted looking for a parking spot at the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station before you even get on the train to work, you can now catch a ride with the new pilot shuttle-share program Great Neck Buzz—and the first four weeks are free.
This subscription-based LIRR transportation service, developed by the Great Neck Park District in collaboration with Transdev & Nassau County through the Nassau Inter-County Express partnership, has been designed for New York City–bound rush-hour commuters and offers a convenient option to driving and parking.
The low-cost, reservations-based program, which debuts on Monday, Jan. 14, will service commuters who live between Middle Neck and East Shore roads and Grace Avenue and Franklin/Rogers Road. Pickups and drop-offs are planned in advance, based on subscriber addresses and preferences.
After the free trial period ends on Feb. 8, rides will cost $10 for five weekly rides in one direction. The sign-up deadline for the first week is Friday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. Going forward, enroll for the coming week on the previous Wednesday by 3 p.m.
