A Stitch in Time
Come to the Great Neck Social Center any Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. to join a group that gives back to communities in need as fingers fly, needles click and happy talk buzzes along while making lovely knit work that will keep the young and old warm and comfortable. Stitches become afghans, baby caps, sweaters and scarves. Bring or find desperately needed yarn. Instruction, needles and crochet hooks will be provided.
Check Out Womanspace
These seasoned seniors have gathered for decades and are tuned in to what active folks think about, like films, theater, the latest research on science and health or new ways to get action from Congress. When Womanspace members hear about something on the local, state, national or global scene, the group selects an expert from its many contacts to discuss it. For new ideas and friends, see how stimulating and entertaining active seniors are on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
World in Depth
A group of active seniors keep up a lively debate on how they shoulda, woulda, coulda run the world every Thursday at 2 p.m. under the direction of brainiac moderators, such as Martin Bomser, Stan Dacher, Shirley Romaine, John Mulvey and an occasional guest, who keep the lively discussion in order. There’s no charge to add your opinion to the mix.
The Great Neck Social Center is located at 80 Grace Ave.; 516-487-0025.
