Did someone say table tennis and drinks? Um, yes.
Smash, a self-described “ping-pong house,” just held its grand opening on Feb. 8, at 2953 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown. Stunning multi-colored lights, with spectacular beaded curtains, separates each the facility’s 11 different high-performance tables.
There is literally nothing like this in Nassau County. Nothing. There are a handful of table tennis clubs, but none are as expansive as Smash.
“We are Long Island’s first ping-pong exclusive bar and multi-purpose venue that caters to all different age groups,” the management team said.
The dim lights, combined with wood floors, an expansive bar and of course, ping-pong tables galore, make this a must-visit for Long Islanders.
Thanks to this idea, Smash is looking to be a hit on Long Island. This is the first bar of its kind on the island, and she believes it will attract a wide variety of people.
“We went to a venue similar to this in Manhattan and it was a great experience and realized that Long Island had nothing like this,” management said.
“We wanted to bring this experience here. We want to bring a fun and different experience to Long Island, creating an island-wide love of ping-pong for all ages.”
Don’t worry if the ping-pong balls are flying all over the place. You won’t have to pick them up because Smash is hiring people for the sole purpose of picking up balls, using a pool scoop-like device. It’s all meant to make patrons as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
This isn’t your ordinary table tennis club.
“It took six years of research from the original idea to fully develop the concept,” management said.
This one-of-a-kind table tennis bar turns into an adult atmosphere at night. Once the clock strikes 8 p.m., Smash only allows people 21 and over into the facility.
With a full bar, there are dozens of different drinks available as well as meals. It also features nine “Smash signature cocktails.”
Smash has already begun to offer lessons, run by professionals, for those wanting to learn how to play ping-pong. Additionally, the club has two private lounges available for parties, capable of having 30 people in each.
“A lot of our clients walk in and talk about playing ping-pong with families and siblings,” management said. “Whether it’s in a basement or backyard, it definitely brings back a lot of childhood memories.”
The Levittown spot, like so many other budding businesses, is perfect for Smash.
“It is a great central location in Nassau County with easy access by highways,” the team at Smash said. “It has a great community, with amazing families, colleges, businesses and more near it, plus strong neighboring towns as well.”
